November 2023 - The Institute for Women's Studies is prominently featured in the most recent issue of The Journal of College Admission, the flagship publication of the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Director Patricia Richards, PR & Program Coordinator Elise Robinson, and Women's Studies major Sophia Volpe were all interviewed for the cover story, "The Identity Generation." The piece explores the relevance of Women's Studies and women's colleges for Gen Z, at a time when women's and gender issues are particularly visible in the wider culture. "As women's issues and issues of equality continue to take hold in national conversations, [admissions] counselors should be equipped to advise students who express interest in these areas," author Rachel Williams asserts. With a reader base of more than 25,000 college admission counseling professionals, this article highlights the important work being done by the IWS and other women's and gender studies programs nationwide.
