Wunpini Fatimata Mohammed

Assistant Professor, Entertainment & Media Studies

Wunpini Fatimata Mohammed is an assistant professor of global media in the Department of Entertainment and Media Studies at the University of Georgia. She is co-editor of the book “African Women in Digital Spaces: Redefining Social Movements on the Continent and in the Diaspora” (forthcoming 2022). Her research which focuses on feminisms, decolonization and communication for social change have appeared in Feminist Media Studies, Communication Theory, Communication, Culture and Critique and other reputable journals. She has worked as a radio journalist in Ghana for several years and some of her work has been published on Al Jazeera, The Guardian and The Washington Post. She has appeared on several Ghanaian media platforms including the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. She has won top paper awards at the International Communication Association (ICA), the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). She has also done organizing work around gender and sexuality in the feminist space in Ghana.
