Principal Lecturer Nichole Ray was a lecturer in the Institute for Women’s Studies at the University of Georgia. She earned a Ph.D. in Adult Education in 2007 with a research focus on the careers of Black women faculty working in research universities. Nichole taught several courses in Women’s Studies, including Multicultural Perspectives of Women in the U.S., Introduction to Women’s Studies, Black Feminism, Critical Feminist Readings, and graduate seminars on bell hooks, Alice Walker, and Black Women's Narratives. She was also a member of the Institute's curriculum committee and served on the planning committee of the Women and Girls in Georgia Conference, sponsored by the Institute for Women’s Studies.She was an active participant in the life of the Institute from 1995, as a freshman, to the day of her untimely death on June 12, 2024.
