Associate Professor, Lamar Dodd School of Art

Marni Shindelman’s practice investigates the data tracks we amass through networked communication. Her work ties the invisible to actual sites, anchoring the ephemeral in photographs and immersive video installations.

As part of the collaborative team Larson & Shindelman, since 2007, their projects have been shown at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas, Frist Center for Visual Arts in Nashville, Eastman Museum in Rochester, FotoFest in Houston, the Southeast Museum of Photography in Florida, Masur Museum of Art in Louisiana, the Light Factory in Charlotte, the FotoFestiwal in Poland, the Athens Photo Festival in Greece, the Houston Center for Photography, and the Baltimore Museum of Art. Their work is in the permanent collections of the High Museum of Art, Crystal Bridges Museum and the Portland Art Museum.

Larson and Shindelman have completed site-specific projects for the Dumbo Business Improvement District in New York City, the Indianapolis International Airport in Indiana, Atlanta Celebrates Photography in Georgia, the Format International Photography Festival in the UK, the Walter N. Marks Center for the Arts in California, and Third Space Gallery in New Brunswick. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Light Work, and CEC ArtsLink in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Shindelman received her MFA from the University of Florida and her Bachelor of Philosophy from Miami University.
