Employee at U.S. Bank How were you affiliated with IWS? Women's Studies Major. Tell us about your current work (paid or unpaid!) I am working as a paid employee at the U.S. Bank. How has your Women's Studies experience shaped your life and work post-graduation? It has made me aware of the inequalities of Women, minorities, and LGBTQ people in this country. I am hyper-aware of it in my day-to-day work and make a point to make others aware when the need arises. There is a severe pay gap and it proves how much the Equality Act is needed in the US. I think I am paid fairly for the work I do, however, I think men definitely get paid more for the same work in other areas. What are your favorite memories from your time in Women's Studies at UGA? Courses, professors, events? I really enjoyed the Take Back the Night rallies on/off campus and all of my classes were a breath of fresh air. I felt like I was with my people when taking my Women's Studies courses. Any advice for current Women's Studies students (graduate or undergraduate)? Soak up the knowledge and make connections. You need to know what you are up against out there in the real world. Having a foundational knowledge of the Women's Studies curriculum will help you navigate it better.
