How were you affiliated with IWS?
Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies and GTA for Women's Studies.

Tell us about your current work (paid or unpaid!)

I am a Professor of Sociology at the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology at the University of Northern Iowa. I'm always happy to serve UGA WGS as a guest speaker if you are ever in need.

How has your Women's Studies experience shaped your life and work post-graduation?
My sociology dissertation research, focused on US women's leisure quilting, has continued to be an important and fruitful research thread in my professional career. My research centers on understanding how women have fun throughout the life course, and the time I spent in WGS classes was certainly beneficial to my academic work.

What are your favorite memories from your time in Women's Studies at UGA? Courses, professors, events?
The graduate courses I took in WGS were memorable, providing an opportunity to dive deeply into research literature, and to learn how to engage in intellectual dialogue.

Any advice for current Women's Studies students (graduate or undergraduate)?
Use your time at UGA wisely, read and listen, and write as much as you can.
