Assistant Professor, Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Social Work

My research focuses on the prevention of gender based violence. I currently focus on the prevention of intimate partner and sexual violence prevention on college campuses. A key component of my research is the integration of technology into prevention and intervention services. I focus on gender based violence prevention because of the profound trauma caused by sexual and intimate partner violence. I also take an intersectional approach, examining how a person's race, sexual orientation, and gender identity increases their risk for violence, how we can take an intersectional approach to prevention, and how these identities affect how they are treated by systems and the individuals in them when they report an incident or seek help. Through my company Goodtech and my university research, I seek to make prevention and intervention services more inclusive and trauma informed.
