Media Portrayal of Women and Girls

Girls Action Foundation
A series of publications and resources for girls' programmers and young leaders that are available to consult and download on-line via the Girls Action Foundation, which was founded in 1995.

Amelia Bloomer Project
Part of the Feminist Task Force, American Library Association, compiles annual lists of recommended feminist books for youth (since 2002).

Girl's Health
National public education campaign sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services to encourage and empower 9- to 14- year old girls. Site includes games, a diary, sports links, and a section for adults who care about girls.
This companion site to offers information and advice specifically for young women of color, including African-American, Latina, Asian/Pacific Islander and Native American girls.
