The A.B. in Women’s Studies will allow students to benefit from systematic, in-depth exposure to the new scholarship on women and gender.

The major will:
1. expose students to interdisciplinary perspectives,
2. enable students to appreciate diversity,
3. expand international awareness,
4. equip students with critical and analytical skills,
5. prepare students for graduate and professional schools, and
6. provide background for working with women in the public and private sectors.

The curriculum calls for courses in a foreign language, statistics and computing, and an introductory Women’s Studies course to be followed by nine courses at the 3000 and 4000 levels. Among the latter are three requirements: Introduction to Feminist Theories, Understanding Research in Women’s Studies, and a Senior Seminar in Women’s Studies - or "capstone course." Electives include options for either an internship or a thesis, and study abroad.  Many students elect to double-major. For more detailed information, consult the Women’s Studies Major Handbook.
