"Queering Campus: The State of Higher Education for the LGBT Community"
Professor of Education in the College Student Affairs Program at Pennsylvania State University to deliver the 17th annual Andrea Carson Coley Lecture at UGA

Athens, Ga. – Dr. Susan Rankin, Associate Professor in the College Student Affairs program at The Pennsylvania State University, and Research Associate for the Center for the Study of Higher Education, will deliver the 17th annual Andrea Carson Coley Lecture at the University of Georgia.
Rankin’s lecture will be given on Friday, April 1, at 12:30pm in the M. Smith Griffith Auditorium in the Georgia Museum of Art. A reception honoring the Coley family will precede the lecture at 11:30am in the Georgia Museum of Art lobby. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public.
Rankin received her bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University and her master’s degree in Exercise Science and doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from the Pennsylvania State University.
She has authored and co-authored many books including 2009’s Campus climate assessment and planning; 2007’s Experiences of gay men in fraternities: From 1960 to 2007 and many others.
She is the co-chair of the Statewide Pennsylvania Rights Coalition, a national invited public speaker, and recipient of the American College Personnel Association’s 2008 Voice of Inclusion Medallion, an award that recognizes individuals who embody the student affairs values of social justice.
Dr. Rankin has collaborated with over 70 institutions and organizations in implementing assessments and developing strategic plans regarding social justice issues. The Executive Summary of this report can be found at http://www.campuspride.org/research/.

The Andrea Carson Coley Lecture in Women’s Studies at the University of Georgia was endowed through a donation from Andrew and Kathy Coley in memory of their daughter, Andrea Carson Coley (1972-1993), who was a certificate candidate in Women’s Studies. Each spring, the lecture brings scholars conducting cutting-edge research in lesbian and gay studies to campus.
