Alaska State Archives
The Alaska State Archives was established in 1970 and opened its doors to the public in 1972. The State Archives is the repository that preserves the government records of Alaska's history and makes these records accessible to its patrons in a safe, professional, and responsible manner. Government records with permanent historical value include legislative bills and histories, audio recordings, meeting minutes, annual reports, birth and death records, naturalization records, incorporation records, court and probate, correspondence, publications and other agency-related material. We do not collect personal manuscript records. The Alaska State Archives holds records dated from 1874 - present, with the majority of records created in the 20th century. Areas of strength include territorial and state governor records, territorial court records, community-based state government records, and state era legislative records.
